The 2GWh Kidston Pumped Hydro Project has been officially registered in AEMO’s Market Management System, marking the first pumped hydro facility to enter Australia’s National Electricity Market in almost 40 years. Developed by Genex Power, the Queensland-based project will provide up to 250MW of generation and pumping capacity, strengthening Australia’s long-duration energy storage capability and supporting grid stability as coal-fired generation retires.
